This 12-port switching module (with 100BaseFX, ISL, RJ-45) provides enhancements that its predecessor did not. Combined with the other two aforementioned components, the WS-X5201R offers the same functionality as the Catalyst 2901, including Inter-Switch Link (ISL) on every port. Additionally, the trio includes a total of 26 ports (an increase of 12 ports) and has the added benefit of modularity. The cost of either configuration represents a significant reduction in cost per port, and purchasing the WS-X5201R pre-owned will give customers an even better entry price point.
