The Cisco MGX8220-CH Edge Concentrator Base Unit is a standards-based, integrated ATM edge concentrator that provides aggregation of a variety of services to a standard ATM User-Network Interface (UNI) or Network-to-Network Interface (NNI) port. Able to be used as an integrated or remote adjunct shelf for Cisco`s ATM switch product lines, a new or refurbished MGX8220-CH can also serve as a standalone unit that aggregates traffic for transmission to and from an ATM network. Cost-effective, the Cisco MGX 8220 adapts incoming data to 53-byte ATM cells using industry-standard ATM Adaptation Layers (AAL) for transport over the ATM network. Even though Cisco no longer supports this edge concentrator, we continue to sell new surplus and pre-owned MGX8220-CH switches to our customers who are not ready to upgrade.
